Diana McGovern loves animals and travel! And fortunately she was able to implement these two loves within her veterinary career. She earned her associate’s degree in University of Central Florida and completed her bachelor’s degree in Microbiology at Colorado State University. After getting married, she moved to Scotland for her veterinary degree. Though she had dreams of practicing in Australia, her husband asked her to move back to the United States. So Dr. McGovern completed her rotating internship at Kansas State University and finally, her Small Animal Internal Medicine Residency at Louisiana State University in 2014.
Dr. McGovern has particular interests in endocrinology, infectious disease and gastroenterology. One of her favorite aspects of being a veterinary internist is developing a team approach to animal care. She feels the owner, the pet, the nurses, the front desk staff and herself make the care team for that patient. Together, we work through the problems and discuss plans that best fit that particular pet.
When she is not at work, she still enjoys traveling and when possible will grab Dr. Goldman to join her! She also enjoys spending time with her husband (20+ plus years and still going!), three adorable children, two dogs and her precious angel cat.
